I have been a HUGE fan of lash extensions for years now. Nothing compares to waking up with no makeup but still having fluttery long lashes. For any beach trips, special functions or your wedding day - eyelash extensions are a no brainer!
But, they do take their toll your lashes and are expensive to keep up. So the lash lift is an alternative option which I’m buzzing about.
It entails applying the lashes to a silicone mould. This lifts each lash individually, adding an appearance of volume to your eyelashes. Upturned eyelashes look much longer than very straight ones. Creating a curl at the lash line not only achieves a fuller, longer looking lash, but also a wider eyed, fresh look.
The lashes are applied to the silicone mould for about 40 minutes. It isn’t painful and is NOT damaging to your own lashes at all. Your eyes have to stay closed for the duration of the treatment. For aftercare it is best to not wear eye make-up or get the lashes wet for a minimum of 12 hours.
The lift lasts between 4-7 weeks. The life cycle of a lash is about 60 to 120 days, so as your lashes grow and fall out, the effects become less noticeable.
I’m super stoked with the outcome so had to let you all know . If you know of any great eyelash salons please let me know. I used Tamlyn from Queen Bee in Cape Town and @queen.bee_ct and will definitely go back to her!
